Resident Laboratory Leader / Asia

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage on-site laboratory operations, including staffing, equipment, and testing procedures
• Oversee testing and quality control of construction materials, particularly those related to rock fill dam construction (e.g., aggregates, soils, filters, and concrete)
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, applicable standards, and regulatory requirements
• Review and validate laboratory test results, reports, and documentation
• Coordinate closely with site engineers, contractors, and project management teams
• Establish and maintain laboratory quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) systems
• Supervise calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment
• Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting related to materials testing and performance
• Prepare periodic reports on laboratory activities, findings, and compliance status
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards within laboratory operations

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s degree required)
• Minimum of 20 years of overall professional experience in civil engineering or materials engineering
• At least 15 years of hands-on experience working on rock fill dam projects
• Proven experience managing construction laboratories on large-scale infrastructure or dam projects
• Strong knowledge of geotechnical and construction materials testing standards and procedures
• Demonstrated leadership and team management skills
• Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on international or large-scale dam projects
• Familiarity with relevant international standards (e.g., ASTM, BS, ISO)
• Professional engineering certification or chartership (preferred but not mandatory)
