About the Role
As a Senior Environmental Engineer, you will play a key role in managing environmental aspects of tunnelling projects from design through to construction and delivery. You will ensure compliance with environmental regulations, minimise environmental impact, and contribute to sustainable engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead environmental management activities on tunnelling and underground infrastructure projects
- Conduct and review Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs)
- Develop and implement Environmental Management Plans (EMPs)
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and project-specific environmental regulations
- Provide technical environmental advice to multidisciplinary project teams
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, stakeholders, and contractors
- Monitor environmental performance on-site, including audits and inspections
- Identify risks and propose mitigation strategies related to ground conditions, water, noise, and air quality
- Support sustainability initiatives and contribute to environmental reporting
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience working on tunnelling or underground infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of environmental legislation and compliance requirements
- Experience with EIAs, EMPs, and environmental monitoring
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
